(1) Austrian contralto Hermine Kittel (2 Dec 1879 - 7 Apr 1948). She studied with Amalie Materna in Vienna. Her debut (1897) occurred in Ljubljana. The bulk of her career was at the Vienna State Opera, where she generally appeared in minor roles. It was in Vienna where she appeared in the première of the revised version of Ariadne auf Naxos, She also sang at the Bayreuth and Salzburg Festivals. Seen here in Tristan und Isolde.

(2) Austrian tenor Alexander Kirchner (16 Mar 1876 - 3 Dec 1948). Studied under Adolf Robinson and Amalie Materna. Debut (1909) as Des Griex (Manon). Seen here in Pagliacci.
