(7) The earliest
postmarked opera postcard I've ever seen. This postcard is dated 1888. The
writer explains how he was able to get opera tickets thanks to "Mr. Tode," Wagner's son-in-law. The "Mr.
Tode" is actually Henry Thode who was married to Wagner's daughter,
Daniela.
(9) Villa Wahnfried, Bayreuth. The home of Richard Wagner.
(15) A rare example of
an mechanical postcard with an opera theme. The date can be changed by turning a
paper wheel hidden inside of the layers of the postcard.
(18) Circa 1900. Signed
by Anna von Mildenburg.
(20) Featuring mezzo-soprano Helene Hieser (1863 - 1937)
who appeared at the Bayreuth Festivals in the 1890s.
