Gabor, Arnold (Budapest: 1888 - Hollywood: 17 Jul 1950): Baritone. Made his Metropolitan Opera debut as the night Watchman (9 Nov 1923) in Die Meistersinger. His last appearance there was on 17 Mar 1941 (Sergeant in Bohème). He was trained by Ritter von Merly and won first prize in a Vienna contest sponsored by Baron Rothschild.

First Faust (1846), Jean de Leyde (1849), first Prophete. Light voice. Toured Germany several times, partnered often with Jenny Lind and Viardot. Popular friend of French musicians and literary figures. Shortly after 1859 he lost his right arm in a shooting accident. Appeared on state with a mechanical arm.
